Rabbi Rafi Feuerstein

For over sixty years, Professor Reuven Feuerstein’s work on meeting the needs of all students has been pivotal in the improvement of academic performance. He is a world-renowned cognitive psychologist who studied with Piaget and Jung. He is the leading scholar/researcher in the world on the theories of cognitive modifiability.

This pre-conference session will feature Rabbi Rafi Feuerstein reviewing the work of his father and other current worldwide research on cognitive modifiability and its impact on urban classrooms. Topics to be explored in this interactive session include: what is cognitive modifiability; how do we assess cognitive functions using dynamic assessment and assist with student learning; what is mediational instruction; and what can be done to improve academic achievement in the classroom. IE (Instrumental Enrichment) will be modeled and participants will experience the instruments themselves.
