Albany School of Humanities - Albany School of Humanities (ASH) is one of the three magnet elementary schools in the City School District of Albany and serves students in grades pre-K through grade 6.
The humanities approach provides students with an overview of diverse cultures reflected in art, language, literature, music, drama, dance and government. A Spanish program in all grades facilitates language acquisition and stimulates interest in language learning. Chinese language and culture also are infused into the primary curriculum
Stephen and Harriet Myers Middle School - The new three-story, 140,000-square-foot Stephen and Harriet Myers Middle School is home to approximately 600 students in grades 6-8. Myers Middle School is an integral part of the City School District of Albany's facilities project and its plan to improve middle-level education by providing all students with smaller, stronger and safer learning environments.
North Albany Academy - North Albany Academy is the district's first and only school for students in grades pre-K through Grade 8. The academy focuses on the fundamentals of education with enrichment activities to support academics. Students have access to a computer lab and media center, and through an innovative partnership with the North Albany YMCA, access to a pool, gym, running track and a branch of the Albany Public Library.
North Albany Academy faculty and staff provide a safe and welcoming environment for children and have high expectations for good behavior and academic success. In 2002 and 2003, the school was recognized as one of the most improved schools in New York State, based on test scores in English Language Arts and math.
William S. Hackett Middle School - Hackett Middle School serves students in grades 6-8 and is uniquely organized to educate students of all ability levels, from those struggling academically to those ready to accelerate. The school's environment is upbeat and caring, and there are many opportunities for young people to mature and grow, socially and academically.
Pine Hills Elementary School - Completely rebuilt in 2005-06 as part of the district's sweeping facilities project, the former Public School 16 reopened in the winter of 2007 as Pine Hills Elementary School. Pine Hills is a neighborhood school, serving students in Grades K-5 with 50 full-time and 14 part-time staff. Our students come from a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences. The school is home to a School-Wide Academic Planning Team whose members include the principal, faculty, staff and parents. This team focuses on academic excellence for our students and staff. In 2001, the school’s Student Council adopted a new mascot, the dolphin, and new school colors, blue and white. The logo incorporates our core values of respect, responsibility and consideration. For the 2005-2006 school year, we adopted the theme of "Going the Extra Mile" in all that we do. Our theme comes from the behavior of dolphins. For example, when a dolphin pod member is sick or injured, other dolphins stay by its side, supporting and caring for the pod member until it is well enough to care for itself. As a school community, we are committed to “Going the Extra Mile” by caring and supporting each other every day.
